Jane Reynolds Thedieck, 75, of Longview Court, Youngsville, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Rex Hospital. She was born in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of the late Effie Stogner Reynolds and Eugene S. Reynolds. Mrs. Thedieck was a member of the American Artist Association and a former president of the Wake County Republican Women Association. Mrs. Thedieck is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Thedieck Sr.; a daughter, Julie Bartlett and her husband, Dennis, of Youngsville; a son, John Thedieck Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Wake Forest; six grandchildren, John Thedieck III, Thomas Thedieck, Benjamin Thedieck, Rachel Thedieck, Rebekah Bartlett and Olivia Bartlett. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Christian Bartlett. Funeral services were held April 3, 2005, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with Pastor Les Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Raleigh Rescue Mission, 314 E. Hargett St., Raleigh, NC 27601.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- Elizabeth Reynolds Layton, 54, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at her home.

A celebration of Liz's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach. The Rev. John Gambrell will officiate.

She was born on June 1, 1950, in Charlotte, N.C., the daughter of Sara McRae Reynolds and the late Tracey Reynolds.

Elizabeth was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with an applied music degree in voice.

Elizabeth R. Layton has been loved by many during her lifetime for her service as a minister of music and as a teacher of choral music and drama. She has been ministering to students, adults, children and youth through music beginning at an early age in her life. She began playing piano at the age of three. As a young lady, she would sing and play the piano at First United Methodist Church of Rockingham, N.C., where, eventually, she served as music minister. She will best be remembered as an accomplished church musician, singer and loving director. Her church directing positions also include First Baptist of Vass, N.C.; First Baptist of Aberdeen, N.C.; Culdee Presbyterian Church, West End, N.C.; Saint Stephens Episcopal Church of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. She also was a faithful choral director, drama teacher and musical theatre instructor for Horry County Schools serving at North Myrtle Beach High, Socastee High and The Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology. In addition, she worked for Moore County and Scotland County School Districts in North Carolina in similar positions.

Through her work with the schools and church, she has touched many lives. She was a "second mom" to countless students and youth; a true and trusted friend to many adults; and a loving support to her family.
