This fast-growing, tendril-climbing deciduous summer vine covers fences, trellises and walls in the hottest locations. Gets bigger each year. It has velvety, heart-shaped leaves.

Very little. Remove last summer's growth after frost.

Disadvantages

Dies to the ground most winters after frost, but rapidly regrows in spring. Attracts bees.

For south and west sides, or asa shade cover over sun-sensitive plants. Ramadas where you want winter sun.

Origin

Native of Mexico. Member of the Polygonaceae family.

Cultivars

'Album' has a white flower and 'Baja Red' has a deep pink-red flower.
