Accent

This evergreen clumping plant has narrow curving strap-like leaves. Needs a five-foot area to grow and will multiply.

Water requirements

Moderate to none. Irrigate if less than 10 inches of rain. Extra water as plant establishes will speed development.

Tolerant of many soils.

Maintenance

None except for removing bloom stalks. Don't remove bloom stalks too soon as stalk will produce blooms more than once.

Disadvantages

Slow to develop. Small plants are sometimes eaten by rodents and need protection until they gain some size. Javelina like the roots.

Bloom

Salmon pink blooms on several bloom stalks beginning in April and last through August or September.

Uses

Good road median plant as it will accept the abuse from traffic. Dry areas, rock gardens and containers. Combines well with palms and yuccas.

Native to Texas and Mexico. Member of the Agavaceae family

'Yellow' has yellow flowers and is slightly smaller.
