Yellow Orchid Vine

This cold-deciduous vine grows quickly to 20 feet high and 15 feet wide.

Hardy to 25F.

Moderate. Low water use, but respond to supplemental water in summer.

Full or filtered sun.

Tolerant.

Needs attachment if grown on walls. Prune out dead wood. In the spring, can prune down to two feet to reduce size or reinvigorate.

Slow to establish.

Yellow clustered flower appears spring to summer.

Seedpods are two-inches long, paperlike and yellow-green and are winged, resembling butterflies.

Seedpods used in dried arrangements. Grow against walls, on arbors and against mailboxes and light posts.

Originated in Mexico. Member of the Malpighiaceae family. Listed in the Callaeum genus by the USDA.
