Bear ChollaA dense covering of straw-colored spines give this evergreen plant a soft, fuzzy look. It is the most appealing and most wicked of the cholla. It grows at a slow to moderate rate to about six feet high and three feet wide.

Inconspicuous flowers in clusters at end of joints from February to May. They are greenish yellow or sometimes white with lavender streaks.
