This evergreen vine will twine on a support and not attach itself to its anchor. If tied to a trellis rather than woven through it, the ties can be removed to allow for painting. Though slow growing, can spread to 20 feet over the ground and with training will cover an area 10 by 10 feet.

Temperature

Damaged by cold at 20F, especially following spring like weather. Tolerates heat if given water but may show leafburn in hot spits.

Moderate to ample.

Sun

Depends on zone. In middle zone, any exposure except in locations of extreme reflected heat. Prefers filtered to full shade in northern and eastern exposures.

Soil

Not a desert plant and requires improved garden soil.

Maintenance

Periodic.

Disadvantages

May be slow to cover or cover unevenly. Sometimes tangles as a ground cover. Foliage can burn from reflected heat. The fragrance can e an allergen, but not the pollen.
