Arch of Constantine
This arch is just outside the Colosseum and is the largest arch in Rome. It was built to celebrate Constantine's victory over Maxentius in 312 in the battle of the Milvian Bridge. After this battle, Constantine, with the Edict of Milan, acknowledged the right of Roman citizens to practice the Christian religion and the authority of the Bishop of Rome.
